Waycast — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Waycast (the “App”), provided by Cybergeeks (“we”, “us”, or “our”), handles your information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. We have designed Waycast to keep your data on your device.

1. Summary
– Waycast does not require an account or sign-in.
– Your trip plans, favourites, and settings are stored only on your device.
– We do not operate servers that collect your trip data, and we do not sell your data.
– Maps and weather are provided by Apple services, which process requests under Apple’s own policies.

2. Information Stored on Your Device
The following information is created by you and stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData). It is not uploaded to us:
– Favourite itineraries (optional name, departure, arrival, stops, and departure date/time).
– The most recent planned route, so the map does not reset when you switch tabs.
– App settings, including theme, glass effect, language, and forecast interval.

3. Location Information
The App uses your device location only when you choose to use your current position as a departure point. Location access uses the “When Using the App” permission and is requested the first time it is needed. Your location is used on your device to set the departure point and to request a route and weather; it is not stored on our servers. You can change or revoke location access at any time in your device’s Settings.

4. Maps and Weather (Apple Services)
To show maps and routes, the App uses Apple Maps (MapKit). To show forecasts, it uses Apple WeatherKit. When these features are used, information such as addresses, route points, and approximate locations along your route is sent to Apple in order to return map tiles, routing, and weather data. This processing is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive or store this data ourselves.

5. Internet Connection
The App needs an internet connection to load maps and fetch weather forecasts. Standard network information (such as your IP address) may be handled by Apple and your network provider as part of delivering these services. We do not collect this information.

6. Feedback and Invitations
– If you choose to send feedback, the App opens your email app with a pre-filled message addressed to us. Sending the email, and the information you include in it, is your choice. We receive only what you send.
– If you choose to invite a friend, the App opens your device’s share sheet. We do not see who you share with.

7. Diagnostic Logs
Some builds include a developer option to save activity logs to a file for troubleshooting. These logs are stored locally on your device and are never sent automatically. They are only shared if you choose to share the file yourself. This option is not available in the App Store version.

8. Analytics and Tracking
Waycast does not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

9. Children’s Privacy
Waycast is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App stores data only on your device and requires no account, no personal information is collected by us.

10. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can remove favourites within the App, and deleting the App removes the data it stored on your device. We do not keep copies of your trip data.

11. Security
Your information is stored on your device and is protected by your device’s own security features, such as your passcode and Apple’s data protection. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your Choices
You can:
– Use the App without creating an account.
– Grant or revoke location permission in your device’s Settings.
– Delete favourites in the App or remove all stored data by uninstalling the App.

13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
